Just before we set off for Iceland a week ago, I decided I needed a decent rain coat that wasn’t an anorak – I knew if I was going to have to spend a lot of time in it on holiday, then I didn’t want the photos to be dominated by a pac-a-mac no matter how practical they might be. Imagine my delight then when I discovered THIS – the Ganni Greenwood Camouflage Raincoat, a thing of (practical beauty) AND on the Outnet.com at the bargain price (for Ganni!) of £90. Unfortunately dear readers it was the last one… sorry, please don’t hate me… but I’ve fallen in love with it so hard I’m now experiencing a bit of a camouflage obsession and thought I’d do a bit of a round-up of some of my favourite camo pieces out there right now.I know for some that camouflage might make you feel a bit too Private Benjamin, but honestly, work past that association with military personnel and camo is the perfect choice for transition pieces that take you from late summer through to autumn/winter. So, here are some of my favourite picks… starting with coats – now, as I said, apologies that my Ganni one – see above – is no longer available, BUT I have found something similar, although more expensive (again, sorry)… How about this, available from Matches Fashion, priced £290, it’s by The Upside and is lightweight crepe, water-repellant and quick drying:Next up and more for Winter, is this one…Love this for a subtle camo look, buy now and reap the rewards come late Autumn and in to Winter: True Religion Camo Winter Coat (Grey) from Zalando, £209.99 – buy here.Perfect for right now and a total bargain price: H&M Khaki Green Jacket, £24.99 – buy here. This total bargain would be perfect for anyone looking for a stylish waterproof (think festivals and other outdoor pursuits that force you into wearing weather resistant gear!) but they only have size XS remaining. If you are XS then you must buy this now, it’s too good to miss out on! Zara Water Repellent Camouflage Parka, now reduced from £49.99 to £12.99 – buy here. Finally, this camo denim jacket from Gap, which would be such a great wardrobe staple to throw on with a variety of outfits from dress-down denim to maxi dresses. It’s £54.95 and you can buy online here. Now moving on to tops, starting with this very appealing Ichi Camo Sweatshirt in grey (or military olive according to them!) from ASOS, currently reduced down to £28.00 – buy here. Great with jeans for an everyday ‘uniform’.Spotted this great tee on the Outnet, it’s a printed jersey t-shirt in camo from Monrow, the LA ‘essentials’ brand. This is now £50.60 reduced from £115 and is just in, so they have plenty of sizes left – buy here. Gap has a few easy-to-wear camo t-shirts and tops that are worth checking out, my favourite being this camo roll-sleeve tee at £29.95 – buy here. They do have some others, so be sure to have a browse at Gap online (search as camo). On to a couple of skirts and I’m starting with this one, from ASOS, which I think looks gorgeous. Love it styled with a blush top too – Satin Pleated Midi Skirt in Camo Print, £38 – buy here:Another grown-up camo skirt that I like the look of is this one from Zalando, the Vila Vifrejs pleated skirt, which is currently 25% off at £31.49 – buy here. And if you’re still not convinced you can see yourself dressing in camo (for avoidance of doubt, I’m not in any way suggesting a top-to-toe approach) then perhaps you could just nod to the trend with this inexpensive oversized camo print scarf. Total bargain at £6, reduced from £15, from ASOS – buy here.Or you could just decide to embrace the trend via the medium of make-up… Burberry Beauty has this rather delightful (definitely want this for my make-up bag!) limited edition eyeshadow palette in camouflage that gives you khaki-green, stone and get-black powders that can be worn separately or together for a smoky eye look – buy here.
****UPDATE***** Just spotted these fantastic printed joggers from new season Hush – £49, they look SO comfy and stylish… now seriously tempted!Really want I have my heart set on now is an edgy camo clutch bag, but I can’t find one I like for love nor money (not that I have the money). I may have to start scouring on eBay… so if you spot one, be sure to let me know!
