We’re all currently donning our gloves during these chilly winter days, but are you ready and prepared for the gloves you’ll need come Spring? Set to become THE footwear of choice come March/April and (hopefully) warmer temperatures, the ‘glove shoe’ has already been spotted on fashion-designer and style maven Victoria Beckham, who’s been out and about this month in NYC in a pair from her SS17 catwalk collection. Demonstrating their versatility, VB has worn her white leather glove shoes with everything from midi-dresses to wide-legged culottes and dropped-waist skirts. If that doesn’t persuade you to get shopping then perhaps the fact that they are incredibly flattering, due to the fact that the v-cut shape lengthens your leg, might well do. Here’s my round-up of some of the best:
Pointed Suede Heels by Unique – TopshopLet me tell you what I love about these. First, they are pink and not just any pink, a hot pink – my favourite shade of pink. Second, they are pink suede – impractical yes, bloody awesome, you better believe it. Third, the cut-out design is SUPER flattering, particularly if like me you are broad of foot. Oh, and did I mention, they are PINK. Beauties. Great with a skirt or dress but equally would work with a jean where ankles on show and an exciting occurrence on your feet is the look you’re going for (perhaps in slightly warmer temperatures).
High Heel Ankle Books with V Cut – ZaraErr hello, £12,99 in the sale boots…WTAF?!?!?! Love these for how deep they are – deeply rich black, deeply smooth and strokeable looking, deeply V-Cut in a way that says RIP toe cleavage. LOVE. Oh and by the way, they look pretty much identical to Gianvito Rossi’s Vamp 100 suede ankle boots, which retail on Net-A-Porter for a cool £560, so…
Jessie V-Cut Mid Heel Shoes – TopshopNot sure if it’s my desire for sunshine given the current chill or the fact I know yellow is set to be big next season, but I’m definitely drawn to these banana colour v-cuts from Topshop in a significant way. A fun way to jazz-up a rolled-up jeans and slouchy jumper look, plus the heel height at 3 inches makes them great for everyday running around.
Minett Point Slingback Heeled Shoes – ALDODefinitely ones for when the weather heats up, but these nude/blush sling-backs have wear-with-anything written all over them. The perfect throw-ons for smart or chic-casual and for £65, they’re not a bad price either.
GINA V-Cut Flare Block Heels from TopshopLove a bit of leopard-print? who doesn’t, these v-cut numbers from Topshop are a snip at £56 and would look amazing worn with cropped fitted black trousers or ankle-skimming wide legged trousers or pleated culottes. In case you’re worried you might come across a bit Theresa May by choosing a leopard print shoe, then fear not – the v-cut shape and the flared block heel both put pay to that and keeps it fashion forward in all the right way! This style from Topshop also come in a cool blue and classic black.
