I am a lover of a scented candle and amongst my favourites are those from Diptyque. For one, because the scents are amazing, but also because the packaging is so beautiful. See also candles from Memo Paris, Bella Freud and of course, Jo Malone. But what to do with those beautiful little jars once the candle has burnt out – do you just bin them or have you thought about cleaning them out and reusing/recycling them into something useful AND beautiful?
I just had a Diptyque Vanilla candle that had finished and was about to throw away the jar when something on Instagram inspired me. I washed it out by hand first, using lots of soapy washing up liquid, then left it to soak in hot water so I could remove the wick bit that was stuck on bottom. This came off easily after a soak. I then popped it in the dishwasher and when it came out, all the black had been washed off and I was left with a sparkling clean little jar. I’m using mine on my dressing table to store make-up/brushes and I love it!I got to browsing on Pinterest and found a whole host of other ideas for recycling/reusing these pretty little pots and here are some of my favourites to inspire you:
