As Summer starts to fade away and Autumn winks at us from just beyond the horizon, I’ve been finding myself browsing for those perfect Autumn/Winter pieces that I can start wearing now and that will see me through into later in the year. I have a girls weekend away to Amsterdam planned for next month (ALL the excitement about that!) and am also pondering outfits now for wafting by canals, sipping coffees in cute cafes (not THOSE cafes…) and outfits that ensure I’m not likely to be propositioned if I do happen to be wandering through the red light district (not bloody likely). H&M has been consistently delivering for me lately, so I thought I’d share some of my new season picks with you – get in there pronto though if any of these tickle your fancy as some of these will go quick! This fine knit jumper in beige marl (£34.99) with embroidered appliqué birds on the front I practically lived in on holiday in Iceland last week. The temperature was on average between 8-10 degrees and it was one of the warmest things I’d brought with me and it really did keep me cosy, it’s so soft! – buy here.
Another fine-knit jumper (£17.99), this time in green and with metallised fibre that gives it a bit of a gold/green sparkle, this was also brought with me to Iceland and while it wasn’t a cosy as the beige one, it worked well layered over a shirt for daytime or worn in the evening with trousers – buy here.
This dress I picked up today in-store, I’d first noticed it on Erica Davies and thought it looked stunning, but I know it’s been in/out of stock. Currently online it only appears to be available in size 18 but they did have plenty of them in the shop I visited (Kingston). It’s £59.99, so it did make me wince a bit, but the fabric is so pretty I thought I’d give it a go. I’ve not had a proper try on of it yet, so the jury is out as to whether or not it’s a keeper, but it certainly is very pretty. Just not sure if on me I might look like I’m wearing one of my Granny’s frocks?! – buy here.Staying with dresses, this one also caught my eye – £39.99, it’s their frill-trimmed dress in dark blue/floral, and I just loved the cut and length of the dress as well as the detailing on the shoulders and sleeves. Again, need to try this on properly and play around with shoes to see if this is going to suit me or if I might look a little too Amish, but I’ll be sure to share on Instagram (@thisiseverythingblog) if I decide to keep it – buy here.Ok, moving now back to knitwear (because it seems I can’t quite get enough of it right now, must be the lasting effect that trip to Iceland has had on me!) and I could NOT resist this chunky knit wool-blend jumper in the most gorgeous shade of yellow. It’s not the cheapest (for H&M) at £59.99 and it is hand-wash only (annoying) BUT it is 86% Alpaca wool and I thought it could just be THE perfect item of clothing (along with the obligatory thermals) for my camping trip to Dorset this weekend. I’ll report back! – buy here. For a great everyday staple piece, I picked up this black and white striped jersey top with frills, which fits beautifully (I bought in a Medium) and will be a perfect ‘throw-on’ item. It also comes in a blue and white or red and white stripe – buy here. The black and white one I have bought will be great styled with jeans and statement red earrings.Happy Shopping!
