Shopping is something I don’t think I’ll every tire of, but shopping for swimwear – oh crikey, that’s a different matter. Over the years it’s like I’ve had some sort of mental block when it comes to finding the right two-piece or flattering swimming costume that doesn’t make me feel trussed up like a turkey or leave me looking like a beached whale! Body confidence issues aside, I’ve learnt over the years that actually, it’s worth paying a bit more for swimwear that is well-made and can hold you in and flatter you in all the right places.
So, I was delighted to collaborate with UK Swimwear ahead of my recent trip to Thailand, to pick out a new bikini to add to my holiday wardrobe for the sunny climes of Koh Samui. I hadn’t shopped with UK Swimwear before and was amazed at the gorgeous selection of beachwear, swimwear and accessories they have from a fantastic selection of brands including Gottex; Aspiga; and Seaspray – to name just a few.
After much much browsing and pondering, I settled on the Batik Twist Cut Out Bikini by German brand Watercult – part of the Maryan Mehlhorn beachwear fashion house (no longer available on the site, but this one is virtually identical and there’s also a one-piece swimsuit version that is rather lovely):I was so impressed with the quality and fit of the bikini (which I have in the size 12), which “sat” really nice and comfortably on my body. No pinching, no squeezing me in all the wrong places! And… no bikini bottom “creep” – by which I mean, thankfully the pants stayed in place on my bum and didn’t repeatedly travel into a wedgie position! On holiday, I can confirm to putting the bikini well and truly to the test. Along with the general lounging by the pool, swimming in said pool and even frolicking (well, strolling and sunbathing at least) on the beach, I also wore them to go snorkelling in! And once again, I can confirm – super comfy, nice and stretchy, stayed in place the whole time and I can also verify that they’ve washed in the machine really well, so all in all, a great success.
Love the tie-dye pattern and the white base colour, which looks great against a bit of a tan, but is easier to wear than an all-white bikini if you have relatively pale skin like me or don’t tan easily.
Of course I couldn’t help but have a peek of some of the other lovelies on the site and these ones caught my eye – all gorgeous for the impending holiday season:
Also, loving all these beachwear picks:
So many more gorgeous things can be discovered on the website so if you’re in the market for some new swim or beachwear and have a holiday on the horizon, be sure to take a look. There are also some fab pieces in the sale, so do have a browse here also. Now… I’m done with these grey skies… take me back to the beach!
Disclaimer: I was gifted the bikini by UK Swimwear but all thoughts, opinions and photography is my own.
